While home bars and wine rooms are not a new concept, they’ve certainly evolved far beyond the traditional setup. In today’s upscale homes, the home bar has become a must-have feature – blending luxury, functionality, and personality. Whether part of new construction or a remodel, more and more homeowners are requesting a dedicated space for crafting cocktails or uncorking a special bottle of wine. And what we’re creating is definitely not your parents’ home bar!

As an interior designer, I see a clear shift in how people entertain—moving away from formal dining toward casual, curated gatherings, with the home bar often serving as the centerpiece. Design-wise, we’re seeing everything from moody, masculine palettes to glamorous spaces with brass accents, dramatic lighting, and statement tile. Open shelving displays curated spirits and glassware, making everything easily accessible while adding visual interest. Some bars are discreetly tucked into butler pantries, while others make bold statements in kitchens or great rooms.

To me, these modern home bars are so much more than a place to serve drinks. They reflect a deeper desire to create warm, inviting spaces that encourage comfort, connection, and celebration. Featured here are some of our favorite bars and wine rooms that we have had the honor to work on over the years. Cheers!
